I was just wondering how everyones doing here coming up onto the end of the first semster... I have a 91.78 (An A at our school is a 92), so going into the final which is Wed I have an A but need an A on the final to finish with an A... I was wondering how everyones school's do skills check offs? Does every school have it where you have to perform skills on the medical mannequins and be checked off that you do it correctly?? What did everyone think was the most stressful this semester, funnest, and easiest!?!?!?

I just finished my first semester of nursing school!!!!! I made an A in pharmacology, an A in health asssessment, and a B in fundamentals. I am so excited. Check offs at my school have to be performed in front of an instructor and it depends upon what skill we check off on as to wether or not we use the manniqins(forgive spelling). We performed vital sign check offs on our lab partners and are head to toe assessments. Clincals were the best and worst part of the semester it was the best because we got to get hands on experience and it was the worst because of all the extra paperworkk that we are required to do.

Congrats on all your grades, sorry I didn't reply sooner! Our program combines all areas into just a "Nursing Process" and we only get one grade which can be nice... or not LOL... I agree as far as clinicals being difficult because of the paperwork. We have to do NPR (Nursing process recording) which are 25-30 page papers (we had 3 this semester, we have 1 over the summer) and thats frustrating. How are you doing this semester?

Sorry to respond so late I haven't logged in a while because I have been super busy. I  passed my spring semester! We had two classes medsurg and OB/Peds was combined into one class. It was really hard to have ob and peds together because there is so much information involved with both subjects. I made a B in Medsurg and I passed ob/peds with a 75 which is a C. I wasn't happy about the C but I was just (lol) happy to pass. I didn't study like I should have because I was getting burnt out. I am now in my third semester and I am back in business and I am studying like I am suppose to.  I will graduate in May 2011 and I cannot  wait.  How are u doing? How long until u graduate?

Hey I actually graduate same time as you! I am almost done with my summer semester have a week and a half left then we have two months off (unless we don't pass our comprehensive NCLEX next week then we have remediation homework the whole two months) I have a 87 avg right now which is low for me but whatever lol. We have to have a 78 to pass which sucks our school is the highest in the state I've heard. I had two friends fail out by like 2 questions on the final last year grrrr... So, I'm going to go write my lovely NPR now I took a break and a mini vacation this week and slacked lol...

I finished my first semester at the end of May with an A in pharm and a B in fundamentals (it was rediculously hard, nobody in my class got an A...which is 93%). I got ten days off and now I'm almost finished with my Concepts of clinical nursing part 1 and last week I am finished with my med-surg clinical rotation. It is so hectic!

Hey.. congrats on how you did pharmacology is definitely one of the more difficult areas, but I heard the NCLEX has more pharmacology on it now than it has in the past. I just finished my 3rd semester (2 more to go!) and I got a B+ so I have an A and 2 B+'s not too bad lol. We have 7 weeks off right now (minus some EKG summer "homework" to do lol) and I started back working I was only doing like 4 hrs every two weeks to stay on payroll so I could work these 7 weeks that I'm off. I worked 10hrs today and it was hellllll. I got so used to not working and now I guess I'll have to get back used to it. Congrats on everything and keep me updated!!!

I just finished my first semester of nursing school and I promise that this has been a challenge with me being off of my Adderall. I have finished with a 3.5 GPA. I feel that I see myself changing. I don't have a socual life anymore because I am always reading now. I am even in church with note cards reading. I don't spend much time on the phone anymore and I rather be at home. I have enjoyed my time in clinicals as well. My first pt was a nurse and she was very helpful. I love the medication classes they have been very informative and helpful!  I am looking forward to starting back up in a few days as some of us are going to summer school to get out of there faster! LOL!

Great job to both of you! Keep up the good work! We are learning to read EKGs right now in class and in clinicals..I  don't think it's too difficult. I have 6 weeks off beginning July 13th, I can't wait.

Lady-that is an awesome GPA, mine isn't that good because I slacked off in college before deciding to do the nursing program. I don't think anyone in the nursing program at my school has a life either, but we will get through it!

Gitano- I definitely am my own worst critic...my worst flaw is second guessing myself.

Everyone, I had to learn to not let what others do and make dictate what kind of student I am. I know that I work hard for those grades. Hey Gitano which Hawaiian island you are on. I plan to come around Sept during break. I plan to visit Oahu...
