Hi I'm introducing myself because I've been lurking for a bit and thought I should say hi.
I'm going to be starting school in January for my ADN. I don't have any college credits yet so I know I have some pre-reqs that I'll have to do but I'm optimistic about doing it as quickly and as well as I can.
My name is Mel and I'm a 27 year old mom with a 3 year old son. My husband and I live in Wisconsin. We've been married 8 years this coming March and my mom lives with us. My husband has MS (multiple sclerosis) so we have some challenges but in a little way him having MS is something that inspired me to be an RN. My mom is NOT supportive of my career choice (actually called it stupid) but thankfully my husband is. We dream of moving to the Vegas area in a few years and getting out of the cold!
I'm pretty open minded about what type of RN I want to be but I know I'm interested in neurology, surgery and ER. I have my appt with my counselor on Monday and I'm very nervous. Starting school for the first time in a long time is daunting when you have a family to juggle, only one car and have to put your only child into day care for the first time. I know in the end it's going to be so worth it. I'm sure that I can get information and support here when I need it!!
