I heard them both tonight and felt compelled to share my contempt:

1.  "Christmas Shoes" - By far the most ludicrous attempt at a tear-jerker marketing ploy.  Why shoes?  Why not a Christmas dress?  So she dies in her  nightie & ruby slippers?  I need Zofran.

2. "Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time" - No amount of "Beatles influence" can undo the nightmare of this song.  Just because someone invented the synthesizer, doesn't mean you have to use it like this. 

Do you want to know something that is not funny, but funny?

There was a lady in the next town from me, that last week, got ran over by a herd of deer! No kidding. You can probably google it. Tarboro, NC. She was standing outside the jewelry store she owns, on Main St. in downtown Tarboro, (smallville, nowhere)  and a herd of deer ran right into her. Threw her up in the air, and she landed on her face. She was trampled to an extent. She wasn't seriously injured, thank God. But when I saw the name of that song, I instantly thought of Michelle Brewer....

I don't like the song "Grandma got run over by a Raindeer"  and anything that the stupid squeeky chipmunks sing.  There is a Christmas song out that is sung by Elliott Yamin from the American Idiot  (oops I meant IDOL......   LOL)  I don't know the name.  Unfortunatly it is played cont. where I live because that is where he grew up (Richmond, VA).   It is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long and I hear it on all of the local stations.      IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!  

Dammit...just heard another.  "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas" is like a 3 minute kick to the nuts.

Oh, I'm devastated, Claire..... I absolutely adore George MIchael!!!  (and I mean almost borderline obsessed!!!  LOL) Grew up LOVING WHAM! and it just never died.  George could sing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" and I would be first in line to buy the CD!  The video to "Last Christmas" is really nice though, it tells the story. 

But I agree with John, I can't stand Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer!  When I was a kid it was funny, but as an adult it is like nails on a chalkboard!

Any Christmas song performed by Aaron Neville...  Any performer who can make a 1-syllable word into a 15-syllable word by essentially hiccup-ing through it has no business being famous...  what is he originally famous for, anyhow!?

LOL Mr. Brown. I think when I grew up, the chipmunks were around, so they have a special place in my heart.  :)  LOl 

Or were you talking about the lady who got run over by the deer a few weeks back? LOL.  Either one can be funny. 

Re #2....I know I heard it a couple days ago in a drugstore.  The worst part about it is that it's the Christmas song that never wants to end.  It would have to rank up there right next to anything done by Manheim Steamroller.  Creepiness...

*on a side note, I'm studying the nervous system for my A&P final two days away.  There is so much to remember that I had no idea how I was going to remember all 12 Cranial nerves in a way that made sense..that is until I did the inevitable and turned it into a Christmas Carol...I give you the The 12 days of cranial function.   (5 TriGEMinal rings...")  I don't care if it's lame, it sure as hell works!
