I am 54 yos old and will be 55 in April and attempting to become an RN.  I have been an LVN for some time.  I tried working on the floor on telemetry twice and loved it, but assigned too many patients.  I am not able to handle 6 - 8 pts even though I love floor nursing.   I love and do hospice by traveling to residences and nursing homes.

I would like an opinion about age and nursing school.  What do you think?  Am I too old?

I believe age is a subjective factor. You are only too old if you feel you are too old. There is so many options that you will have with an RN degree that I believe you can benefit from achieving it no matter what age. You can always go into teaching if you are feeling overwhelmed by too many patients or you can go into the visiting Nurses branch of employment where you usually have only one patient at a time in there home. The possibilities are virtually endless and it never hurts to further your education. Good luck on your path, whatever you decide.
