Posted over 5 years ago Check with your state government. Michigan offers nurses $4000/year if they're going to go full time in Michigan and work in Michigan upon graduation.

Posted over 5 years ago Hi Jangie, is that $4000/year for tuition or is that for leaving exspense because you're going to school full time? I live in South Carolina, do I need to contact my senators? Because I'm not exactly sur who in the state government do I need to contact for this type of information?

Posted over 5 years ago Hey ken yin05, the $4000/year is part of the whole tuition package in Michigan, meaning it can be for books, room/board (or mortgate/rent), and other expenses when attending full time. Each school uses a financial aid formula to determine your "financial need". You need to check with your state government (www.sc.gov) for info. and apply for financial aid ASAP, meaning as soon as you get your taxes done. If accepted into a school, applying early using the FAFSA (federal application for student financial aid) makes you eligible for more aid. Also, the financial aid office at the school you wish to attend will have info. on many scholarships/grants/loan programs. Good luck!

Posted over 5 years ago Jangie2 said: Hi. I found that site before finding your post. One of the eligibility requirement from this site is that the student must not have/owe on a federal obligation(s). I guess that I'm SOL. I owe $27K in federal student loans for my B.S.B.A. Degree. Does anyone have any info on other scholarships for people like me (who owe on federal loans?) I can deal with the exchange for service to work in a health care facility for 2 years; heck I would have a nursing job lined up after getting licensed. I appreciate the scholarship ads that I receive periodically thru email but I do not want to be limited in the college that I will attend. I will not attend a private college since it's too expensive for me. I prefer to attend a community college at least before transferring to a 4-yr college for the BSN Degree.

Posted over 5 years ago editor said: Hi. Thanks. I am finding that the colleges that I must attend in order to qualify for a scholarship thru the website above must be private (Heald, University of Phoenix, etc) . I prefer to somehow obtain a scholarship that will allow me to attend a community college (less expensive).

Posted over 5 years ago Does anyone know where I can get a nursing school student loan with a low credit score? I will qualify for some FAFSA but no enough and I do not have hardship proof. I am just a working mom with a two parent household. I will be working and going to LVN school this fall.
