Cardiac Care Nursing seems like one of the more fast-paced and stressful nursing specialties - I was just wondering what makes so many people choose it?

Cardiac patients are more ambulatory then the unit I work on. I work on a picu. Some patients require 4-5 nurse personnel to get them up. If I can transfer off the unit it would be back to cardiiac. Also the hospital stay of a cardiac pt is shorter then the stay of the patients on other hospital units.

So you work in a pediatric intensive care unit (picu), is that a common protocol to have the cardiac unit act as a "liaison unit" between units?
