Posted over 5 years ago I take my finals tomorrow. Everyone has different study techniques. I'm a linguistic learner so I do a lot of highlighting and when I'm taking notes I use a bright colored pen. At the beginning of this semester we were all taught our learning styles by using the book You Are Smarter Than You Think. If you haven't heard of it I highly recommend it. It has some really good pointers for studying based upon your learning style. GOOD LUCK!!!! Stacie

Posted over 5 years ago Finals tomorrow! I've been studying all weekend. I've read every chapter, did a study guide and all of my notes. I've been doing aroma therapy for studying and drinking mind enhancing tea and bunches of praying. Then it's off to the LAST semester! I was going to relax tonight, but I think I have to put my nose back into the books. Please don't pay any attention to my misspelled words or typos. Sorry I'll try harder next time.

Posted over 5 years ago Finals for me are this week. I have a midterm on Thursday in math, dealing with Dosages and the metric system. Then on Saturday I have the final on everything!! Prealgebra, decimals, conversions, negatives and positives, ratios and porportions and it goes on and on. I hate math!!! Ill take any other subject except for math. As far as studying techniques, I have my boyfriend tutor me since I am not that great in math. I stay up until midnight every day including weekends since I have class on Saturdays and Sundays just going over and practicing. Practice makes perfect! I learned that in elementary.

| Posted over 5 years ago I have my final Tomorrow, in Speech 101. I have another one in Sociology on Thursday. I have a different type of technique that I use, I use index cards to study off of, I find them very easy to use, and to carry around. I am looking forward to Christmas Break. Good Luck to everyone that is graduating from their Nursing program also. Happy Holidays to everyone and their families, keep on studying to those that are taking their finals. I am a proud mother of three beautyful daughter. I currently live in Los Angeles California. I've worked as a heathecare provider for almost 10 years. | Posted over 5 years ago I just finished with my very last final on Monday!! I'm home free, now I just have to pass NCLEX! I don't really have any tips for studying, as I rarely had time to review anything, although I'm a verbal learner....I read out loud to myself... sound weird but I learn better if I read and hear what I'm learning, if I ever have time I type notes, then I've heard it, saw it, and written it....the more times you repeat the info the better you learn it. |

Posted over 5 years ago I took my HESI exam today. Very nerve racking and a lot of praying. But I survived the test. Materials were given for the next semester to read over the holidays. At least I don't have to worry about another exam right now. I'm just glad to be going to the next level. The only advise that I can give is to READ, READ, READ, and then READ some more.

Posted over 5 years ago Finally finished this semester! Whew, what a relief. I'm never taking 21 credits at the same time again. For Biology, I like to retype my notes and study them (yes, I'm a neat freak); I swear it helps. The repetitiveness of scribbling them in class, then typing, then reading the same information truly increases my success.

Posted over 5 years ago hello, i'm from the other side of the globe and we have really different semestral schedule with what you are following. I'm having my 2nd semester for level 2 BSN now and I'll be taking my midterm exams next week. A lot of studies to do but I have my notes that really aids. Tip for studyin'? Oh, it's an easy thing. Have a notebook with you at school, outline every topic being discussed but be sure to understand what you are writing. Ask questions if necessary and when you get home, all you need to do is read your notes and for further explanation, refer to your book. Math? Hmmmmmmm, when I took two different Maths last and the other semester, I just write all the important notes in index cards especially the formulas and believe me, it's a very effective style! I don't even take my instructor's examples. I just understand them and I review the formulas at home for the following day. I had my DR and OR observations and Simulations last month and I find it great. OR is a little bit difficult but I really enjoyed it. I wanna be an OR nurse soon! Good luck for all of us! Merry Christmas to all guys!

Posted over 5 years ago I am done with both of my finals also. In my Speech 101 class, we had a potlluck and we gave our teacher a Christmas gift. He mostly got money, he was so happy. My Sociology final went well also. We brought in a unwrapped toy for a unfortunate foster children. He didn't request anything for himself. I have two weeks in a half for Christmas break, and off to winter session. Merry Christmas to everyone!!! I am a proud mother of three beautyful daughter. I currently live in Los Angeles California. I've worked as a heathecare provider for almost 10 years. I am curently in school to pursue my MSN in nursing, and wants to work as a pediactric nurse, in public health.

Posted over 5 years ago Finishing up finals now. One test left next week. We just had the end of the semester party in our health assessment class :) good eats. As for study techniques be sure to go over notes. I tend to rewrite or type my notes and follow/complete any reviews the professor provides. When forming a study group try to keep 'em small...3 is good 4 is party so be careful and try to set up a group who has open communication and be sure to stop any stray topics or far off tangents...before you know it you've lost an hour talking about what happened last weekend at your cousin's party. After creating an outline or study guide and studying through it once or twice go over the study guide starting from the last page and work your way back. Doing this allows you to assimilate information in a different order...its true! Then as you continue studying hit up different sections of the chapters and notes once again in different orders to make sure u really know the material. Well thats all I got for now. Good luck to all the students on here!!!

Ended up the first quarter with an A in Economics, and A in Diet and Nutrition, a B in Drug Calc and a B in Nursing Fundamentals! WOO HOO! Now we're off until January 7 - then back at it with Med/Surg - classes on Mon & Tues and then 12 hour/day clinicals on Wed & Thurs. Looking forward to the "hands on" but not sure how well I will "adjust" to those 12 hour days! Happy Holidays, All! |
