Health care--so what makes you think there's a fix?

Posted over 3 years ago This posting is appearing in the anonymous zone so that no member need be shy about speaking his mind or fear being ridiculed by other members. So what makes us think we can fix health care in this country? Dozens of members have criticized the pending health care bill; practically everyone mentioned one or more legitimate problems. No fix? Are we reduced to just improving matters? Will improvement take years, perhaps even generations? How can health care be improved? We started out with an unlimited budget and resources, but we exceeded both in about a week's time. Here's another vexing question: do you think government undertook to run health care or just to improve some urgent and ruinous problems, such as exorbitant health-care expenses? Maybe government is the wrong outfit to improve health care. Who would like to see the banking industry run health care? How about the insurance industry? Auto industry? Pharmaceutical industry? Entertainment industry? Scrap-metal industry? Organized crime? Toy industry? We've heard a lot of clever talk about problems with health care. Anyone care to propose some practical solutions? How about even one solution?

Posted over 3 years ago Transform health insurance companies to become more like public utilities. Switzerland seems to be doing that with it's health insurance, and it's had universal health care only since the mid-nineties.

Posted over 3 years ago Government is not the answer, it's the problem.

Posted over 3 years ago Unless you are posting statistics, it's pretty much all opinions, isn't it? BaROCK, promised C-SPAN and sunlight in the healthcare debates, yet here they are behind locked doors. Why are our elected government officials discussing this behind locked doors? We all know what is required to fix healthcare. No one wants true malpractice, or tort reform. No one wants to address the waste and abuse that goes on in medicare and medicaid. No one is willing to make the pharmaceuticals ante up. No Lawyer in D.C. is willing to do that. No one is willing to address the true problems facing this country. They just want back room deals and closed doors.

Posted over 3 years ago i am raising 2 children and first hand experience is worth five hours of pontification ! in other words if you don't live the alarm clock life you will write things like the current bills in the house and senate. these people have no idea what is means to live your life on the clock ! and that goes for a lot of the people on gov dough currently ! politicians are the big problem here and the way they are allowed to continue to do business is criminal i mean truely ....conflicts of interest everywhere you look!! fix this and fix alot of the problems!

Posted over 3 years ago Anyone who studied US history knows that at the beginning of our nation the political leaders DID put on their work shoes every day - farmers, silversmiths, merchants..... the founders never envisioned a congress full of professional politicians with very little grounding in the real world! They envisioned real human beings who would serve the country for a couple of years, then return to real life. We are now governed by a ruling elite as bad as the royalty we fought a revolution to escape! CaptainEricRN

Posted over 3 years ago unfortunately there are many who did not study or pay attention in amer gov class or even in world history class !!! these are the same people who make a myriad of excuses on why they don't vote etc.. so they get what they get i have no sympathy for them at all! and when the next disaster strikes i will be laughing at them just like katrina what a bunch of whiners waiting for the gov to save their a$$e$ well guess what there is no fix except the one you design for yourself !!! poor planning makes for piss poor performance as v. lombardi said so well !! and this applies to your health as well
