Hi Everyone!

My name is Casandra, I am 20 years old and I am currently a new LPN.  I am having a really hard time trying to find an LPN job in New York (Long Island- Suffolk County).  I am starting to feel a little discouraged since I have not heard anything back from all the hospitals and nursing homes that I have applied to 2 weeks ago.  Can anyone provide me with some advice  and support?!

Much appreciated!

 Hi, Casandra, welcome to nursinglink.

I graduated in 2008, got my license in 2009, can't find a newgrad job. I posted a discussion in having it hard finding a newgrad job. Read it. I live in California, it is so hard out here. Good luck in your job hunt.

I am a proud mother of three beautyful daughter. I currently live in Los Angeles California. I've worked as a heathecare provider for almost 10 years. I am curently in school to pursue my MSN in nursing, and wants to work as a pediactric nurse, in public health.

A bit of advice u may find hard to take is that most are finding that they are having to relocate to regions that are actually hiring new or any nurses.

The good part is u get to live in a new state or region, get ur experience, then once u have your exp maybe the economy is back on it's way up and u can return home and land a better paying job, maybe even by then u can have completed ur RN BSN MSN or what every.

Some other options is the Military is hurting bad for medical folks, not only would it give u a job, they would also pay for all the remaining schooling u could want. For a limited investment.

The VA Hospitals are also another option they have a travel nurse program, though recently have been on a hiring freeze, not sure about the travel job part though.

But what I've told many students is that nothing in the world is candy anymore, there isn't a job or career that hasn't been effected by the mess Bush caused.

All we can tell u is hold on things will get better and be glad that  u still have so much life ahead of u, u got plenty of time.

What will make things easier is take a job in another field any job to make ends meet until u get a Nurse job.
