Have you purchased a lpn nclex review book or cd? this is what i used to review for the test. critical thinking is key to this test.

I agree with Kimberley. Get a NCLEX review book. Also when you take the test think about "white castle nursing". Our instructor in school told us to pretend that we only had one patient and could focus on that one patient 100% when answering questions. The other questions usually have to do with priority of care. You have 5 patients, who do you see first? Someone that has a wound that needs redressing or a patient on a vent that needs to be suctioned. THink priority and a perfect world.

Kimberly and NurseMom both gave the same advice my instructors gave: Critical thinking, NCLEX review and Utopia or White Castle Perfect World nursing. Our teachers kept telling us that it was important not to read too much into the question. If they dont give the patient the problem, you dont. All things are perfect except the situation given.

Maslows heirarchy of needs and your ABCs-Airway, Breathing, and Circulation.

Another option would be the online review course by Elsevier Saunders, which is available as a 4, 8 and 12 week course, through their website. It has been recommended to me by several RN's (i'm a foreign educated nurse) and i will purchase it myself in about two weeks.

Get the Kaplan review course or book. It sounds like that your problem is testing strategy or anxiety. I was a LPN for 5 years and Pearson helped me at that time 2002, then I just finished my RN. For my RN, Jesus! and the Kaplan review were great. Second, Getting a hotel the night before by yourself! Helps that anxiety! Don't take your boards at the same spot. Pick a different place or city! Don't study the night before. The aacn sight is also helpful! God Bless and keep the Lord as your source.

dont overstudy!! if you have too much info running through your brain it all jumbles together!! keep it simple and dont overanalyze everything. and why be scared?? it is just a computer asking you a bunch of questions about what you learned. if you can pass nursing clinicals and skill check off's then you can pass the nclex.

I found it helpful with tow different Nclex books to help me through medsurg along with my actual book for the class. I used Davis's Nclex review and The Illustrated Nclex review. Some of the pictures and outlines really helped me to memorize the the disease like Addison's and cushings.
Second the review disks also help you practice the material and Nclex questions. Davis's disk teaches why you should answer a question. They give you a detailed explanation of why each answer is incorrect, it really helped me with passing med surg. Third make sure you are using study groups. Practicing the material and questions together really makes a difference. Ones strength can certainly be another's weakness.
I hope that this will help you out some!!!!! Merry X-Mas
