Eating healthy during nursing school

Posted about 3 years ago Hi Everyone! I am hoping for any tips, tricks or ideas on how to keep my diet healthy while in nursing school. I have been trying to keep on track by packing a healthy lunch, and making sure I eat breakfast, but with the stress of classes, studying, and clinicals it is hard to stay on track. I am often finding myself reaching for something quick rather than healthy, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

| Posted about 3 years ago One thing to make sure of, it that you have the healthy options planned. I know time is short. So, when you go to the grocery, buy good finger veggies, and cut them up when you get home (celery, broccoli, carrots, etc) and put them in a containter. Buy a few things of hummus. When you want to snack, you will already have your veggies cut up..:) Buy bags of almonds, and walnuts. Put them in little snack baggies. Then buy some dried fruit (no sugar added). Divide those as well into little baggies. Keep plenty of little baggies in your bags. Combine a nut baggie with a fruit baggie, and you have a great snack. I also make healthy smoothies for on the run. I have a "bullet" blender, and always keep supplies for healhy snacks. I keep frozen truit on hand at all times. Then I put it in the blender with water, or something like almond milk, or skim milk, and add a few scoops of protein powder. Always add just a littly protein, or healthy fats with your carb snack... I teach these concepts. If you have anymore questions, please don't hesitage to email me... newrn.com">joyce@newrn.com You can also find healthy ideas on Facebook @Healthy for Life Club.
