Posted about 3 years ago First of all I'm not a nurse. My boyfriend is a nurse. I hope it's ok to post here. I need some perspective. He's constantly worried about his license. When we talk he expresses the worry that he'll lose his license because someone else under his supervision will make a mistake and he'll be responsible. Or that he'll be blamed for a mistake that another nurse made. This is every day. On his day off he just talks about what could go wrong while he's not there. I'm stressed beyond belief. He talks as if this is an ever present danger. I keep thinking if it's that easy to lose your license how does anyone still have a license? This is his first year out of school so I don't know if he just adjusting to the new responsibilities or if there really is a major problem. The company he works for gave him more hours and praises him often. This seems to just stress him out more. He's a stickler for details so I'm sure he follows all procedures. His newest problem at work is he is afraid that the other nurse is going to lie about a mistake that just was discovered and blame it on him. He's giving himself ulcers. I try and tell him to calm down or he's going to burn out in his first year. He just obsesses more and stops talking to me. I was going to go into nursing but if it's like that I think I switch my career choice. |
