I am tired of the reactions people get when that ask what your profession is and you say nurse. Then they say Oh..you're a RN, and you say LPN, then they say Ohh.., like a LPN isn't a nurse.  We LPNs  bust our humps, probably harder than alot of RNs, but we don't get the same respect. I have found that alot of RNs look down their noses at us, like we aren't much!!! Am I the only one or do I have other nurses(LPNs) that feel this way and how can we overcome this stigma?

I have to agree with ya...LPN's do not get the respect they deserve, and its bad when others make you feel inadequate or make you feel like you have to work twice as hard to prove yourself.....when All Nurses have so much to learn...alot of nurses have too big of an EGO to"nurse" which creates room for error, and instead of paying attention to the patient...theyre worried of who is being called a nurse...RN....LPN... NURSE FROM THE HEART PEOPLE..........It really makes me wonder why people went to nursing school to begin with. Keep your head up, and be proud! 90% of what you do as a nurse will never be seen by others, its that gentle touch,or calming manner that you give to your patient while providing care that matters...In the end its those individuals that matter, and its their opinion that I care about......
