Are CNA's And STNA's the same?

To my knowledge the only difference is the title name. (Probably specific to the state/region in which you live.)

CNA=Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Nurse Aid

STNA=State Tested Nursing Assistant

so my question is i just moved to co from oh (stna) just want to make sure when i go to look for a job they dont say its not the same. according to the nurse reg in oh, they said the same thing just different name, and possible that the new state has some other quals, you have to do. cmc

I live in Ohio and yes they are the same, back about 11 years ago, Ohio changed the name to STNA because there were alot of older CNAs that never had to take the state test like they do now.

Just take your state registration number with you where-ever you settle and then check with the state your in to find out how to transfer the registration or if there is anything else that they may require. I moved from Arizona to Washington state and it was simple. Good luck!

taimy there is an article in education about going from cna to lpn. if you don't wish to go to lpn but directly to rn, start checking out community colleges or universities in your area to find out the pre-reqs, the waiting periods and applications to be an RN
