For all of you LPN's out there I'm looking for some experienced answers. Has anyone had their skills effectively utilized in the hospice setting. I am asking because I manage a caseload and work with an LPN who is great she has great assessment skills and knows her stuff. The problem is that it is difficult to give her autonomy because the regs really have my hands tied. She is not allowed to touch the care plan, she cannot do an initial admission assessment, she is allowed to confirm the skill set of a CNA but not to supervise them, and an RN must see the patient every 14 days. I would like to give her more responsibility so she does not feel that her knowledge and skills are not recognized and so I ask you if any of you have worked in this field or similar (homecare) and how you managed to utilize skills without stepping on regs?
