I am new in this group, been here in the US for  almost 3 years, I am just waiting for my citizenship then I will move back to the Philippines to go to nursing school.  I know it is better to get my RN program here  but I just want to be with my family at the same time while I attending school, I miss everything there despite I visited Phils. every 6 months for 3 weeks.  I am working here as a CNA  here that made me decide to go back to school and be a nurse.  If anybody can give me any advice, If do I need to pass the board exam for nurses to qualify me to take NCLEX since CGFNS is not required here in the state I live in. any input will greatly be appreciated. thanks.

Hi!

It's a good idea to get your citizenship first.  When you go back to the PI, American citizens have a much easier time than non-citizens at the US embassy.

The nursing education there is excellent - Filipino RN's are very well prepared.

I'm not sure about which tests you must pass - each state is different. Your best bet is to contact your state Board of Nursing and ask them! Most states have their Nursing regulations online. What state are you living in? I'm in New Jersey.

Please email me if you have any questions - I'm a RN, an attorney, and a health facilities administrator.

Ingat ka,

Rick
