I already have an undergraduate degree from 18 years ago and am looking to apply to the accelerated BSN program. I am currently taking prerequisites at the community college and have applied for a patient tech care position. My question is, is there any advantage in going this route or should I get my associates degree first and later bridge to BSN. I understand that a BSN with no experience is treated just like a new nurse with an associates degree. The accelerated BSN is a more expensive program. I am 40 years old and have just figured out what I want to do with my life, and I just want to make sure I am being smart about it.

I am going the ADN route first, to test the waters. I figured that with the smaller classes offered at a Community College, I can become a better nurse because I can ask the questions, and the Nurses teaching the classes will be able to answer them and be more readily available. I have attended my nursing conference, and scheduled to take the NLN next month. I find out if I have made it into the program in March. Good luck.
