Posted about 3 years ago Hello, I just recently failed NSG103. My intent is to retake the semester... I believe I did my best in terms of studying, however I just get thrown off by the way questions are prestented during an exam. Test questions seem so far to the left outside of just understanding a given topic. My question is what have you found to be the best way to prepare for exams? Maybe I need to look at the material I am studying in a different way... I am completely lost can anyone advise an effective way to study material? |

| Posted almost 3 years ago Nursing schools (if they are smart) structure their tests just like the NCLEX or State Boards you will be taking. My only tip: Take lots & lots & lots of practice tests, just to become accustomed to the testing style. The way they structure nursing exams may be ridiculous, but might as well get used to it, because that is the way you will get your license. |

| Posted almost 3 years ago I'm an online student so there's no teacher in class telling us what to focus on. They would tell us the chapters to read and give us exams every 2 weeks. It averaged about 180 pages of text every exam. I found it difficult to read that much. I read slowly, but retain everthing, and never have to read it again. I'm talking 6 pages per hour slow. focused on outlines available on the publisher's website and practice exams. After those I would read all I could. Others read the chapters 3 or 4 times, but how much are you retaining if you have to do it that speed and frequency. Some made flashcards as they read. Some read, highlighted, and reread the highlights. In the end, we all averaged the same grades. |

| Posted almost 3 years ago I tried studying the book and I did poorly on the test, so I mainly focus on the notes from class, with the book as a supplement. I like to use the website freenursetutor.com for review too. It has A&P review in case you haven't had it in a while, and it has interactive games and note cards that I find very relevant to our classroom material. |
