The Minnesota Nurses Assn. has authorized a 1 day strike againt The Twin CitiesHospital system. According to the MNA web site the rank and file voted overwhelmingly 90% to authorize the strike showing Twin Cities that they mean business. The major issues are with patient staffing/ratio's and of course money/benefits. The hospital has stated that if the nurses walk they may not take them back right away because they will have replacement workers doing their jobs during the strike. Minnesota is home  to the longest nursing strike in 1984 where more than 6000 RN's walked off the job for 38 days before finally settling.  I have a feeling that you are about to see the "power of nursing" in action and we should all pay attention to the outcome because that may be us one day too........
