menopause is worse than i ever imagined,. My one saving grace is that I had a colleague who used to share things with me and let me know what would be happening. The first time i had a HOT, HOT FLASH and yanked off not only my blouse but my wig in my office, i called her and made her laugh, as i wiped the sweat from my body. Aches , stiffness. Sometimes i feel like im going to CRACK!!  I try off and on, more off, to do stretching exercises but im usually so tired from the insomnia, that i can't get up early to do it. Im sweating RIGHT NOW!!

Hi Gitano. I made a decision way before I got to this phase of menopause that i would not do HRT because of the great risks. I always think back to what our mothers did before the great age of hormone replacement. maybe that's why pulling off the blouse came so easily. I used to watch my mother at the dinner table. We'd all be engaged in a conversation and then she'd  loudly say, "Woo!" as she grabbed the shirt.  the next thing we'd see was her white bra! She made no excuses. It was what it was! I started stretching exercises yesterday and have begun my walking routine: walk to and from walk. i felt a bit better. If i can just keep the routine up...

Hmmm, now i wonder if we women should just go buy a few diamonds and get a YOUNG man. LOL..

Love this topic. My hot flashes have started. And they come at the most inconvenient times... I am starting to take a natural help for this called Phytoestrin. I will let you all know how that works out...

Hey all! The phytoestrin is helping. My mother is also taking it. And, I can't help but think my dietary changes are helping as well.  Now, to make sure I am exercising everyday. I think well rounded fitness has to help as well.

Hello Herbalnurse. So is this Phytoestrin by prescription and how has it helped you? Im also noticing (or rather paying closer attention to) the weird shifting moods. One minute I'm laughing and happy and a few minutes later Im feeling melancholy, almost close to tears about stuff that when Im happy doesn't even matter! whenever i start feeling 'down' I ask myself, "what's wrong?" this happened today. happy, sad by the time i walked thru my door, then up again by the time i walked back up to my room. Hey, maybe it was petting my two cats that helped! Hmmmm.. I wonder if I can sneak my cats into my office..LOL Seriously tho, many women don't like talking about menopause I think cause it reminds them that they're aging. Well, nothing we can do about that! As a young woman my plan was to age gracefully. The more we all share our experiences with this menopause thing the more we support each other. Sometimes menopause makes ya laugh out loud because we find ourselves doing some crazy stuff to keep cool and not fold up like a pretzel!

Didn't know men had hot flashes, or similar! Thanks for the heads up!
