Posted almost 3 years ago I graduated from a community college and receive my CNA certifcation last year in june 09'. And i have been looking for a job ever since. it seems to me everywhere i look they want me to have a years experience. well i'm upset and confused because how can you get experience if and agency or hospital wont give you a chance. i have my certification and i graduated from a community college i also have experience in Phlebotomy and i took my clinicals at a well known Nursing Home in MD. but i just cant get someone to give me a chance. i feel like i went to shchool for nothing.! |

Posted almost 3 years ago Joyce, I think it is so hard for CNA's to find work because there are so many of them now. I know in Ohio in the past 5 years, many non-degree business schools have added CNA, LPN, and RN programs. The CNA programs are always wait listed. So with so many CNA's graduating, when someone wants to hire one, they can afford to look for experience. I will say though, keep trying. I read your profile and you have accomplished a lot. It shows you can do something when you put your mind to it. Do not get discouraged. Work on your interviewing skills and above all never show that you are desperate for the job. Show intrest of course, but not desperation. Nursing demands extremely high ethics red44pc@yahoo.com

Posted almost 3 years ago I've hired lots of CNA's with no experience - but today the economy stinks, so they just don't hire as much now, and are more selective. This will turn around as it always does. Just keep trying!

Posted almost 3 years ago Joyce, It sounds like you are in the same boat that I was a year ago. I went to Temp Services until I found one that would give me a chance. As Like you, I also finished my phlebotomy Tech Cert. and now I have to apply as a (PCT) Patient Care Tech for entry to a new field. I found out from asking a lot of nurses that no company will hire a Phlebotomy Tech with out a year experience even if you have 100 sticks. I even called the blood services and the same answer. Dont give up something will happen. Like I said " apply at Medical Temp Agency.

Posted almost 3 years ago Hi this is Bonnie, I am also a CNA was a CNA in Arizona now I am in Florida, and it is also very hard with the experience and skills, to find work and also I am currently unemployed because I am finishing up school for CMA, hopefully find a place that will hire you in, I have heard that alot of the gruaduates that go out and complete everything from school to NCCT are still looking. And they say that you will always find a job in the health field? that one is the most promising for work? yeah right? even with skills and schooling you still cannot find anything. I have spent so many hours on the computer at home onling filling out applications and getting responses like your not what were looking for, okay then what are they looking for? Someone that is allready employed to leave their job and start another one. This is very frustrating, wasting all that money for nothing, but like everyone says, keep your head up and keep going on... Good Luck to every one! Bonnie

Posted over 1 year ago Unfortunately, the economy is in such chaos-everyone's finding it tough to get jobs!!!!!!! I don't really see it changing any time soon-President Obama is in a hole!!!!!!!! I feel sorry for him-he doesn't have a clue of what to do!!!!!!!! Believe me, I know where you're coming from-in the same boat, but I'm a LPN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't give up or give in!!!!!!!! You'll find something, but you're really going have to search it out!!!!! I'm constantly @ job fairs, employment centers, and on-line job sites, too!!!! You may want to look into temp agencies-but check them out before applying!!!!!! Start to network @ your local hospital-get in touch with their HR department-find out what CNA positions are available with minimum/no experience!!!!! I hope my 2 cents helps, GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My name is Shonna or 09157238!!!!!!!!
